Education is an Atmosphere,
a Discipline,
a Life

Introduction to Charlotte Mason, her belief in the child as a person and her viewpoint that education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.

“Our aim in education is to give a full life. We owe it to them to initiate an immense number of interests. Life should be all living, and not merely a tedious passing of time; not all doing or all feeling or all thinking – the strain would be too great – but, all living; that is to say, we should be in touch wherever we go, whatever we hear, whatever we see, with some manner of vital interest.”

Join us as we focus on Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and how the change in perspective can transform your homeschool lifestyle.

The workshop includes immersion activities that will help jump start your CM homeschooling journey.

“They must read the given pages and tell what they have read, they must perform, that is, what we may call the act of knowing. We are all aware, alas, what a monstrous quantity of printed matter has gone into the dustbin of our memories, because we have failed to perform that quite natural and spontaneous ‘act of knowing,’ as easy to a child as breathing and, if we would believe it, comparatively easy to ourselves.”

We are told that Narration is simple and true to every child’s development. Why then does narration sometimes seem so hard? Often this is because we do not fully understand what narration is or the underlying principles behind it.

What is narration really? In this workshop we will cover these topics and leave you motivated to start or continue using this excellent way of learning.

Narration:
the Act of Knowing

 Charlotte Mason called this process
“the act of knowing.”
Discover what Narration truly is, how is it done, and why we should use it.

Past Workshops / Events

I’ve been to three Living Learning talks, and each time I’ve picked up something that inspires me and something I can literally apply with our homeschool lesson the following day. Nothing is recycled in these talks, but principles were consistent and built upon with fresh concepts and applications. Each talk is Charlotte Mason-inspired, and is carefully thought out so that homeschooling parents feel equipped to implement the method; so it’s not just,
“Oh that’s so nice and inspiring!” But it’s, “Hey, I can actually do this!”
We’ve been delaying homeschooling because of lack of direction, but after the Early Years workshop, we started the next Monday after that and never stopped since then. Thank you so much for making us feel confident to begin and to enjoy our homeschooling journey!
