Alab turned 5 last July.
He’s been wanting a Bug Party for months.
Our long hours outdoors, in the creek and amongst giant trees helped develop his interest in these tiny creatures.
End of June, we found out that we had to leave and go back to our home country, Philippines.
There were a lot of things that had to be done. Errands. Packing our clothes. Selling our stuff. Farewell parties. etc.
But we made sure that the party had to push through!
I did my best to make a Bug Cake. I wasn’t so happy with the result but the birthday boy
was happy and that was all that mattered.
My masterpiece:
The bugs are rice krispies with melted marshmallow, covered with white chocolate and a final layer of homemade fondant.
(I was really bothered by all the bumps. Got to learn how to cover those rice krispies better. any tips?)
The 5 bugs are seated on vanilla cake covered with mud (Oreo, Fudge Cookies and Graham).
Each kid had a favorite bug but most of the girls wanted a piece of the lady bug 🙂
The bugs tasted so good!!
The day was perfect.
Alab surely misses his dear friends but he is looking forward to meeting new ones.
Cheers to being five, our son.
We love you.
Excited for your new adventure! 🙂
